Birch View Chalet · Large groups

A Blue Mountain chalet for large groups, sleeps 14

One house for the whole group: five bedrooms, seven beds and one table for 14, a 15 to 20-minute walk from Blue Mountain Village and the lifts.

Who sleeps where

The bedrooms are spread over three levels, which helps when a group mixes early risers, late nights and young kids. At 14 guests, every bed sleeps two.

A few ways groups split the house:

  • Night owls in the loft. The big TV, the retro arcade and the king bedroom share the top floor, so whoever stays up latest gets Bedroom 1.
  • Young kids on the main floor. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share the main floor with the kitchen and a full bathroom.
  • The quiet couple downstairs. Bedroom 4 has its own bathroom and fireplace, a floor away from the kitchen.

One table for 14

The dining table seats everyone at once, so nobody ends up at a kids' table. It sits between a full kitchen and the stone fireplace, with glass doors out to the deck, the hot tub and the BBQ.

The kitchen comes with cookware, coffee, tea and a drip coffee maker. With 14 people, a dinner rota works well: two or three people cook each night and the rest clean up.

Groceries and drinks

If you're driving up from Toronto, Collingwood is on the way in, and it's the easiest place for one big shop. Drive times below are from the chalet and are approximate.

In Blue Mountain Village, about 3 minutes away

  • Village Market, 156 Jozo Weider Blvd: groceries, grab-and-go meals, frozen food and snacks for top-ups.
  • LCBO Jozo Weider & Village, 182 Jozo Weider Blvd: wine, beer and spirits.

On Highway 26, about 6 minutes away

  • Circle K Craigleith, 209554 Highway 26: an LCBO Convenience Outlet, so it sells spirits as well as beer and wine.

In Collingwood, 12 to 15 minutes away

  • Metro, 640 First St
  • FreshCo, 55 Mountain Rd
  • Walmart Supercentre, 10 Cambridge St, which offers grocery pickup and delivery
  • Loblaws, 12 Hurontario St
  • Farm Boy, 39 Huron St
  • The Beer Store, 415 First St, and LCBO First & Pine, 1 First St

In Thornbury, about 19 minutes away

  • Foodland, 105 Arthur St W, with an LCBO at the same address

In Ontario, licensed grocery stores can sell beer, cider and wine. Spirits are sold only at the LCBO, LCBO Convenience Outlets and distilleries.

Parking and getting around

Parking is free on the property. Tell us how many cars you're bringing, and we'll send you the parking plan before you arrive.

Blue Mountain Village and the lifts are a 15 to 20-minute walk from the chalet, or about 5 minutes by car. Walking saves a parking spot at the resort, where the Village lot (P2) is paid after the first hour and other lots are free when space allows.

From downtown Toronto, the drive is about 160 km, usually 2 to 2½ hours depending on traffic.

Skiing as a group

Blue Mountain's published group rates start at more people than the house holds: recreation day groups need 20 or more. A group of 14 will usually buy regular lift tickets. For lessons, the resort runs kids' group lessons for ages 4 to 6 and 7 to 12, and a private lesson can take up to five people aged 6 and up.

What it costs per person

From about $50 per guest a night on weeknights for 14 guests, fees included. Rates change with the season, and weekends and holiday weeks cost more. At that rate, three weeknights work out to roughly $150 each.

Booking direct gets our best price, with no booking-site fees. Every Friday and Saturday night is booked until the end of 2026, so midweek stays before then, and any dates in 2027, are the ones to ask about.

House rules for groups

  • 14 guests maximum. That's the number on the Town licence, and it can't go over.
  • Overnight stays only. Parties, events and commercial functions aren't permitted.
  • A quiet street. The Town's noise by-law applies around the clock, and a first offence carries a $615 fine.
  • Check-in after 4 pm, checkout by 11 am. Self check-in with a keypad, so the group can arrive in waves.
  • Pets are welcome. An additional fee may apply. See pets at the chalet.
How many people can stay at the chalet?
